So since I have been here in Paris (almost 6 months, eeek!), food has not been my top priority here. I eat. Don't think I don't. I eat plenty. But, eating in the many different restaurants has not been a priority of mine. I have met many-a-people who just have to try all the fabulous restaurants and types of food that Paris has to offer, but moi, not at all. Honestly, it's always been that way for me. Even in the states, food was not where I wanted to spend my money. Sure, I ate out quite a bit more in the States; mainly because it was easy and cheap and I knew where to go, but here, I haven't quite learned that. Plus, living in the boon-docks, there really isn't much an oportunity to eat "out". Il y a un restaurant dans ma ville. (There is one restaurant in my town) Anyways, when I have eaten out, its been a mixed range of experiences. Usually the more I have paid for food (25euros =more than 30 US dollars, outrageous for someone like myself who makes a whopping 320 euros a month) the less I have enjoyed it, the less I have paid for food, more than likely, the more I enjoyed it. Funny how that happens. There is 5euro Fulafel in the Marais, amazing! And then I have had a few brunches that were worth remembering and a random other number of decent meals. (I have come to REALLLY enjoy my host mom's home cooked meals, no matter how little meat is offered, or just buying fresh food and cooking at a friends house) but lately I have been getting in a "I want a burger and fries....in AMERICA" kind of mood. Let's emphasize the AMERICA... but since I can't have a burger and fries in America (lets be real, that would be a rather expensive burger and fries ...haha) I have been trying to find a decently priced alternative. Enter in... THIS. I cannot say wether or not it is worth the price tag of 14 euros, but I think I will be braving the awful cold in the sometime near future to grab me one of these with a few friends. If the pictures are any indication of how good it is, then I am in for a treat (in my opinion).
So in the spirit of something old, here's an exit like I used to do:
***CHEERS to new cultures and new people, but not necessarily giving up what I knew and love, just combining the two: a nice, greasy hamburger (eating with my hands, not a fork and knife) in Paris!***
Hope everyone is having a lovely snow day!!!
Love, Kara
