another weekend in paradise!

I was just sitting here about to write a post and thinking of all the things I have been doing and all the things I have already planned to do and thinking of the next moment I am free to make even more plans. ha! Let's just say, moving here has not put a cramp in my social calendar. If anything, it has given it a boost to the point where I have socializing coming out my ears, I sleep eat and breathe socializing. Ok, maybe that is a bit of an extreme but when I do sit and think of all I have been doing, I am not surprised at how tired I am also. :-)

After last week's staying in for three days straight (I accidentally skipped my language class on Thursday due to too much fun last Wednesday which I am sure you all know about) I decided on Friday I wanted to get out of my quaint little cow town and go do something. I have been wanting to visit the Jewish district because, well, I haven't. I have been there a few times but not to wander around and it has a reputiation of being the young and hip area of Paris (forgive me if I am wrong, I did not look this info up or anything) and it has quite a few shops and its just a happening area.

In my quest to have a good morning, which by the way, shops in this area do no open until 12:30 so the fun antique-type shops or the ones you love to go browse in but not buy in, were not open at all. :-( I did however end up going by the "Thanksgiving" store because I was wanting a Dr. Pepper and that I did. On the way I stumbled upon an ENGLISH ONLY BOOK STORE. Um, hello??? Where yes, I bought a book. And the owner of that store told me there are 5 english only book stores and 2 english only resale book stores. I should not have found out. oh no. (I have a weakness for books) Then i stumbled upon a few other stores where I bought a few items, thanks Dad for the early CHristmas presents!!! haha. The thing though about Paris right now is its FRIGID cold. As in, ridiculous and unnecessarily cold. I am not a fan. Not one bit. But i sucked it up and kept shopping. I ended up grabbing a Fallafel for lunch, mmmm, its a must have if you are in Paris!!!

After being out in the cold for so long I was in need of a warm break and so I headed over to a friend's apartment who lives close to the Eiffel Tower. This girl and I ended up hanging out the rest of the weekend. My host mom texted me while i was in Paris and told me that I did not need to watch the kids this afternoon so I took it as an excuse to stay in Paris and have a good time. I am a fan of unplanned plans and that is how Friday was. I went to go pick up my friend's little girl with her (she is also a nanny) and then take her girl to ballet and then we did dinner with another friend and then we watched a movie. It was a night of unplanned (for me) but completely enjoyable experiences. It's times like those that make me love the friends I have made here and being in Paris. There is so much to explore and so much to do that there is not a moment ever to become bored. (Unless of coarse you live out by the cows where I do!)

Anyways, on Saturday I went to EuroDisney! I will be returning again because I did not have the full experience. It was SO cold that I almost cried. (not a joke) It snowed, which was fun. Then it snowed HARD which was cold. And then it started to rain which sucked. And then the snow on the ground became slush which was awful. And then our shoes all became soaked from the inside out because of the nasty slush that had formed all over the place and although I had three pairs of socks on, my boots were soaked inside and it was no longer enjoyable to be outside with soaking wet feet in 0 degrees celcius temperatures. We had a blast for the most part, taking pictures with the characters, watching the parades, standing in line wating for the rides, experiencing the park the best we could in the frigid cold. It was so cold that most kids were in ski clothes. Maybe its because I am from warmer temps, but if it were so cold that I felt the need to put my kids in ski clothes and ski boots just to go outside and enjoy the day, I think i would rather stay at home in the warmth drinking a cup of hot cocoa. But that's just me. apparently.

That evening I ended up at the Marche de Noel (another one) at La Defense (the business district) and this one was nice. Besides the fact that my feet were still incredibly and disgustingly cold and wet, I really enjoyed this marche better than the one on the Champs Elysees. I do have some pictures but they are on my friends camera and I dont have the cord to move them onto my computer so that will just have to wait. Desolee.

Sunday is in need of its own post just because I need to not sit at this computer for so long this morning. Things to do and people to see. Or more, just things to do.

I am loving this Christmas season here. It's interesting being in a different place, different country, different culture and see how they decorate and celebrate the season.

And just a reminder: only 24 days until my feet are firmly planted on American soil again. I think I am getting homesick now that I know I am getting close to seeing people again. I can't wait for the mexican food and hugs! Ps. I apologize in advance if I go to kiss you and forget to give hugs, and if I speak in broken English becuase my mind automatically thinks in French now.

I heard Houston had some wonderful temperatures this past weekend, hope you enjoyed every second of it. And if you wouldn't mind bottling some of that up and pulling it out when I get there, that would be fabulous!!! I am missing the sunshine and warm climate!!! :-)

Love you, me
