preparing for Christmas

It is starting to feel a lot like Christmas around here. Everyone is preparing to leave and travel for the holidays, we sang Christmas songs at church on Sunday and there are Christmas lights everywhere. Oh, and the malls are jam packed. Remind me not to visit one until next year.

Today I received ANOTHER amazing parcel in the mail from MI MADRE (wrong language, i know) and I loved opening it and finding out what was inside. Ahhhhh, the perks of being away from home at Christmas have been totally awesome. I recieved more decorations for my room (and my future Parisian apartments, hopefully), some more food (yay), some Christmas CD's that was I was uber excited to get (even though they were mine from home haha) and she also included a stocking full of who know's what because I am not allowed to look/open until Christmas day. In Austria they don't have Santa Clause so my mom sent me a little something from SC. haha. Yes, I still believe in Santa and if you have a problem with that I don't care!!!

So a blessing, this morning I woke up completely ready for the week. Last week I feel as though I was short tempered and easily annoyed by everyone, especially my kids. I didn't like that and I was trying to figure out how to fix that. I already feel more patience and compassion towards their little kid behaviors and for that, I am grateful! I also woke up with a newfound confidence, as I do often, for speaking French. Some weeks are better than others, last week was not so great on the speaking French front, so I am very happy to have an attitude of desire towards my new language! It's not easy but I can see myself getting better and better and better and better! Thank the Lord!

Oh, and I have a friend who has sent me a few messages saying "dont miss your bus" because he knows I have a tendancy to miss my bus. Well, i missed it again yesterday. And what did that mean? It meant that I had to wait at the gare for 55 minutes for the next bus to arrive. I was on my way home and it would have taken longer to walk than to wait. Argh! That'll teach me, or will it??

And lastly, lately I have found my neighbors to be really helpful towards me. I come from Texas where the people are very friendly and very open and very willing to be there for you but this a different level. On Friday I was running late to catch my bus and it was the last bus of the evening so it was a do or die kind of situation (because obviously my whole life depended on me making this bus) and my neighbor saw me running for the bus and offered me a ride to save time. I would have missed it as I was talking to her the bus drove right past us. Such a kind lady she is, she sped up, passed the bus and then dropped me off before it had time to speed on past her....like 5 bus stops past the one I would normally get on at. And then this morning I was running late again and some elderly lady drove past me and saw me running down the hill to my bus and stopped and offered to drop me off at my bus stop! How crazy!!! I am very thankful for this small town more than I let off and I really like living here, despite my crazy love and want to live in Paris!

Well, I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. The snow has finally melted away and life is back to normal, if that even exists, and even though I had a wonderful day and my kids were so well behaved for me earlier, my little girl is (on cue) throwing a fit right now for her mother!!!! Gosh, I love four year olds and their lack of being able to control their behaviors!! :-D

Love, me
