Today I took a nap

Today was THAT exciting!!!

I am so grateful for the opportunity to take naps after long or exhausting periods of time.

This weekend I had a fabulous time. Friday was a good friend's birthday celebration and I was so excited to present her with all her gifts and celebrate a birthday, my first one here. Everyone enjoyed (ok, they LOVED) my funfetti cake and were surprised to find out I didn't make it from scratch but that it came from a box. Oh, the ways of America, haha!

And then Saturday I spent shopping around Opera and visiting Galaries Lafayette. How I had never visited that store before is beyond me. It's the largest department store ever. Basically the size of a mall. And it houses nearly every brand possible. The only downside to being there during this time of year is that so is everyone else, and by everyone else I mean everyone in the world...or so it seemed. The decorations were just beautiful and the interior of the store was equally as incredible. Galaeries Lafayette is known for its window displays at Christmas time and this year they were pretty cool. Some of them were moving, some were just there, but they were all themed to old movies so each window was a different movie. It was pretty cool to see how they best displayed their products while staying in themes.

Its also been snowing A LOT around here. Where I live in the suburbs has been getting quite a bit more snow than in Paris and it stays a bit longer so it seems prettier and I really enjoy that about being out here. But my friend and I decided on Saturday that the snow was a bit much and the people were a bit much and so we retired to the good ol suburbs to relax inside. We decided on the way home we wanted McDonalds but once we arrived where we were to buy our food there was no McDonalds there. Instead we decided to make queso and buy salsa and that we did. Our grocery list for the evening was a bit odd... we bought a loaf of some amazing wheat type bread (a large loaf), salsa, some type of queso, hamburger meat to put in said queso, 2 bags of tortilla chips, and soda. Sounds like an American meal and we are both american. Well, thanks to all the snow falling my friend and I got stuck (we were at the equivalent of a wal-mart) and it took us 2 hours to drive half a mile home. So ate the whole way there. Interesting experience. I made the meal once we arrived home and afterwards we were so stuffed and we didn't understand how. I am never that stuffed after eating here anymore. It must be American food that makes you feel like crap after you're done. Yipee!!! And even though it wasn't the real thing, it was exactly what needed to be eaten at that point in time. Nothing better than some "homemade" queso and chips and a winter chick flick movie curled up in bed with a good friend!!!

Today after church I came home early because I was tried. Dont know why or how but it was so. I just woke up from an amazing nap and am going to have dinner with my family...what's on the menu for this evening? French pizza, my favorite!!! I think its now a Sunday usual. I have noticed the pattern. But I don't mind!

Only 4 more days and then I am in Vienna ....and then its also Christmas!!!

And then only 6 more days after that I am back in Paris to wake up the next morning to catch my flight to HOUSTON!!!!

We have had a lot of snow around here lately so please PRAY that the flights are safe and that my flight to houston is able to take off on time. The London airport has been regularly cancelling filghts and completely shut down for a few hours yesterday and Paris cancelled almost 40 percent of its flights yesterday so I am hoping for some SUN at the end of this week!!! The snow is great and I am learning what its like to live in a land of constant snow, although I have been told this isn't normal for Paris either, but I don't like the snow when it hinders your plans, haha!!!

Well, I hope y'all have enjoyed a bit warmed experience this weekend!!! Miss you all and wish you could be here to experience Paris in Christmas!!! It's been a wonderful experience and I can't wait to tell you all about it in person soon!!!

Oh, and as one of my hopeful "New Years Resolutions" I am going to do  a backwards....I am going to STOP mailing so many letters! I know it may not seem like you receive a lot of letters but I have been so blessed to have so many people mailiing me letter or packages which then in return receieve something from me. And birthdays and happy thoughts. Anyways, I have realized just how much money I have been spending on postage and I just don't have the budget for it and eat and travel or buy any necessities so I just need to cut down on my postage purchases! I wish I could write y'all all the time but I hope we can continue to keep in touch via Email, its FREE!!!! And skype, Its FREE also!!! and other forms of communication!!!

Love, me

I think that might be the department store I remember going to when I was in Paris for Christmas a few years ago. I remember it being really huge and crowded and having amazing window displays :)

I'm super jealous that you're going to Vienna. Austria is definitely at the top of my list for places I want to go so take some awesome pictures for me!

I can't wait to see you in a few weeks!!!!
