Have you ever been??
Me neither, until...last night!
A few weeks ago when I first started talking to my girlfriends about going out for my actual birthday I mentioned wanting a good, greasy burger. I am American! I am also from Texas (land of lots of cow) and here in Paris, blame is on the expensive food or the fact that I never eat out or the fact that most French restaurants have burgers that are less than amazing but I haven't had a burger in who knows how long. I think I can remember having 2 burgers the whole time I've lived here (now 3). Anyways, I was just craving a juicy, hearty meaty hamburger. Long story short, I decided on going to the Hard Rock Cafe. I had no idea how the food would compare to American food, how authentic it would be, but I was willing to try!
Holy. moly. It. was. so. good. If you were ever in Paris (or probably anywhere in the world that there is a Hard Rock Cafe) and you are craving some good ol American food, hit up the Hard rock cafe. Seriously. The burgers are outrageously priced, but worth every centimines. No lie.
I ordered the California Burger. Guacamole, swiss cheese slice, and a bunch of other delicious ingredients... what came out was... amazing french fries, a well cooked (tasty) burger, HOME MADE fresh guacamole, and RANCH DRESSING... I can't even describe to you what all that meant in my mouth.
Anyways, it was quite possibly the best birthday I've had yet. Well, I guess I am kind of having a birthday week, right? My parents were here for three days and of coarse since I hadn't seen them in a while it was eating out and buying anything Kara wanted. Ok, ok, I am not that spoiled, but it was a good time to see them and see Paris. Then last night a few close girlfriends and I met up for dinner. I loved the company and the food. It was hard trying to narrow down the group of people to invite for dinner as I have a million friends here I consider good ones but I decided a smaller group would be a lot more enjoyable than trying to invite everyone I knew (Thats what parties are for, right? and I'm having one this weekend!!). It was the perfect group and I am so thankful for their friendship and their availability to come and have an American dinner with me.
Now for the rest of the week I plan on taking it easy. The weekend was long, I took half of yesterday to recover and then being out late last night has made me super tired again.
This weekend I am having a birthday party, ahhh, I am so excited! I think I am most excited that I have so many awesome friends to share this time in my life with. It's so incredible to see where I am now and where I came from and to be able to soak it all in and be truely grateful and thankful for all that I have!!!
I am blessed by my real family back home, my wonderful parents who flew to Paris for three days to celebrate my birthday with me, my adopted French family, the awesome people in my town who are so kind and generous with me, my awesome friends in Paris, my super cool new family I will work for this summer who remembered it was my birthday and sent me a message, and for everything I have here.
Anyways, I am off to watch some tv or sleep, who knows!!!
Thank you for everyone who wrote me a message on facebook, my blackberry was blowing up from midnight (when my Parisian friends started texting me) until about 28 hours later when everyone went to bed in Texas and finally stopped messaging me. Wow!
Love you all, love, me
